General Membership
The Racial Equality Council is a membership organisation made up of a mix of organisational and individual members. This general membership meets at least twice a year and at the Annual General Meeting elects an
Executive Committee to be legally responsible for the organisation.

The Executive Committee
There are a maximum 11 people on the
Executive Committee
at any one time.  They are all volunteers who become directors for company law and trustees for the purposes of charitable law. They appoint honorary officers from within themselves at the first meeting after the AGM. There are honorary positions of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. The Executive Committee are able to co-opt an additional 3 people with special skills as non voting members too.  

The Executive Committee is legally responsible for the organisation and steers its services. They meet on the last Thursday of every other month. If you are interested in joining the Executive Committee please e-mail us.

Staffing
The Director is the chief of staff. She is responsible to the
Executive Committee and line managed by the Chair.

She has responsibility for overall daily management of the organisation, its budgets, staff and projects.

The REC currently employs two part time Administration Assistants, a Business & Information Officer, three full time Community Development Officers, a Caseworker, and a Volunteer Caseworker. For more information please download the organisational chart here.
