Community Development

Community Development Team in front of books
Linda Lee Parker, Neil Emmott and Helen Martin (not shown)

In September 2008, Cheshire, Halton and Warrington Race & Equality Centre set up a brand new Community Development Service funded by Capacity Builders.

We have a community development team consisting of three community development workers who work with community groups, organisations and faith groups within the Black and Minority Ethnic Communities in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington .

The role of the community development workers is to help develop and strengthen BME community and faith groups across a range of activities including fund raising, grant funding, community activities and engagement, training and with helping to ensure that the groups have a voice when dealing with statutory agencies such as the local council, health service and various government bodies to ensure that the groups are fully empowered as much as possible. The community development team also offers support and advice to groups on practical matters such as applying for charitable status and on organisational matters and the team helps new groups within the BME communities in setting themselves up.

Our community development team of Neil Emmott, Linda Lee-Parker and Helen Martin can be e-mailed, contacted at our office in Chester on 01244 400730 or on their mobiles:
