REC Secures Over £400,000 from Capacity Builders

Phil Hope, Minister for the third sector announces over £17 million of Improving Reach Grant awards at Capacitybuilders annual conference.

We have just heard that we have secured £410,555 of funding from Capacity Builders to develop a new community development service to reach out to frontline BME and faith community organisations across Cheshire. We have been recruiting a new community development team which we hope to be up and running by the beginning of September.

The Service will:
Provide advice and support to set up new groups and develop existing ones
Help and handholding with funding applications
      Skills based training
Set up and maintain a BME Network across the area

Housing Project Begins!

We have been commissioned by Cheshire Housing Alliance to undertake a project to find out more about the housing and support needs our diverse communities. The project will look at two distinct pieces of work – developing a tool for frontline staff to use about diversity and the needs of BME communities and a separate, more focused piece of research into newly emerging communities within Cheshire , primarily Eastern European. As part of the work we will be out and about talking to people about what they want from housing providers. If you are interested in getting involved or would like to be interviewed as part of the project please contact the REC office on 01244 400730.
